Our Commitment to Privacy

ZodiBark is built on a simple principle: an app about your pet's horoscope should never compromise your privacy. We collect only what's absolutely necessary for the app to function, and nothing more.

This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Data We Collect

Information you provide

• Pet information — Your pet's name, species (dog or cat), breed, date of birth or gotcha date, personality quiz answers (vibe vector), and optional photo.
• Profile information — An optional display name and your zodiac sign (used for owner-pet compatibility readings).
• Apple ID authentication — When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique user identifier, and optionally your name and email (depending on your Apple ID privacy settings). We use this solely for authentication.

Information generated by the app

• Daily readings — Horoscope and vibe readings generated for each pet, stored to provide caching and history.
• Compatibility readings — Results from pet-owner or pet-pet compatibility checks.
• Reports — Premium report content (birth chart, year ahead, compatibility) and associated PDF files.
• Purchase records — Product IDs and transaction identifiers for subscription and in-app purchase verification.
• Analytics events — Anonymized, first-party usage events (e.g. "reading_viewed", "pet_added") stored in our own database for product improvement. We do not use any third-party analytics SDK.

Information collected automatically

• Timezone — Your device's timezone, used to compute sky transit data for the correct local date.

Information we do NOT collect

• Location data (GPS, IP-based geolocation)
• Contact lists or address book data
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Third-party analytics or behavior tracking
• Device model, OS version, or hardware identifiers
• Health or fitness data
• Browsing history

How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide the ZodiBark service:

• To generate personalized daily horoscopes based on your pet's birth date and real sky transits
• To calculate compatibility readings between pets and owners
• To generate premium astrology reports
• To store and display your pet profiles
• To manage your subscription and purchase history
• To cache readings so you don't re-generate the same horoscope twice in one day

We do not:

• Profile you or analyze your behavior
• Use your data for marketing purposes
• Share your data with advertisers
• Sell your data to anyone
• Use your data to train AI models

Third-Party Services

ZodiBark uses the following third-party services to operate:

Supabase

We use Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and serverless functions. Your data is stored in Supabase's PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest and in transit. Supabase is GDPR compliant and SOC 2 Type II certified. All database tables enforce Row Level Security (RLS), meaning you can only access your own data.

OpenRouter

We use OpenRouter to access large language models (LLMs) for generating horoscope text. This processing happens entirely on our server-side Edge Functions — the API key never touches your device. The data sent to the LLM includes your pet's species, breed, zodiac sign, personality traits, and computed sky transit data (Moon sign, phase, aspects). No personally identifiable information (name, email, Apple ID) is sent to the LLM.

Apple (Sign in with Apple & StoreKit)

Authentication is handled by Apple's Sign in with Apple service. In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

• Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables — you can only access your own data
• All API keys (OpenRouter, Supabase service role) are stored server-side only, never in the iOS app
• Edge Functions verify your JWT before performing any operation
• Pet ownership is enforced server-side: you can only generate readings for your own pets
• Storage policies ensure you can only access files in your own user folder
• All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
• Data is encrypted at rest in Supabase's infrastructure

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you use ZodiBark. Daily readings are cached indefinitely to provide history and avoid redundant generation.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings > Delete Account in the app. This permanently removes:

• Your user profile
• All pet profiles and photos
• All readings and reports
• All purchase records
• All analytics events

This action cannot be undone.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — View your data within the app at any time
• Rectification — Update your pet and profile information in the app
• Deletion — Delete all your data from Settings > Delete Account
• Portability — Contact us to request a copy of your data in a portable format

Children's Privacy

ZodiBark is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
